35th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY AND GIFT GIVE AWAY
AT THE NEW YORK STATE VETERANS HOME, OXFORD, NY

Hello Legion family (ALA, AL, Sons and Riders),
It is time again for the annual Christmas Party and gift give away at the Oxford Veterans Home at 8 a.m. on DECEMBER 8, 2018 sponsored by the 6th District Legion Auxiliary and the Legion Family. The District consists of 10 Counties, which are Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Madison, Otsego, Schuyler, Tioga and Tompkins.

Last year we had 98 Volunteers for a total of 400 hours donated by them. No one UNIT, one POST, or one SQUADRON can DO IT ALL. Donations and volunteering comes from all of you through your kindness and generosity.

The whole program begins at 8 a.m. at the Home as the truck and cars arrive with the gifts that need to be unloaded. Coffee and donuts are served as the volunteers get to work setting up the tables and filling them with gifts and setting up the wrapping station. Usually by 9:30 a.m. we are ready to let the residents begin to do their shopping for their family or themselves, guided by you, our Legion family volunteers. THERE IS NO COST TO ANY RESIDENT FOR ANYTHING! All is provided for by our fabulous and generous Legion familes and other volunteer donations.

All volunteers are treated to a FREE lunch by Oxford American Legion Family Post 376 in Oxford. (17 S. Washington Ave; plenty of parking in the rear.) It is very gracious of them and very much appreciated.

After lunch, around 1 p.m., Santa, Mrs Santa, the elves and the volunteers (that can stay on) go around to each resident's room and delivers a bag of Christmas gifts for them. It is a very rewarding and joyous day for every resident, staff, any family members, and our Legion family Volunteers.

DONATIONS ARE BADLY NEEDED AND GREATLY APPRECIATED starting now and right up to the party. I shope all year round and pick up some really great sales.
